Duties And Responsibilities

The consultancy will support the development of the online version of Disaster Risk Reduction Country documents. The consultant will add the content of seven country documents to an online format and will ensure that the text, photos, figures and other elements are correctly displayed and all links are functioning.

The selected person will report to the UNISDR Project Coordinator based in Panama.

Technical support for this position will be provided by the UNISDR Regional Office – The Americas.

The following points will provide an overview of the duties and responsibilities of the consultant within the UNISDR DIPECHO project for the Caribbean:

  • Familiarize with the common format of the elaboration of country documents as well as the individual structure of each document.
  • Upload the full content of seven DRR country documents which will be provided in its final version as word document. This includes text, figures, photos, tables etc.
  • Ensure that the format follows the instruction provided for the online country document version.
  • Keep close working relationship with the designer of the online version as well as UNISDR staff to ensure product quality.
  • Quality control of the uploaded content.
  • Share online version for revsion with UNISDR.
  • Revise DRR country document based on comments received.
  • Share final version.

Expected Duration

The consultant will work 14 weeks with a starting date of 25 April 2016. It is estimated that uploading each document to the web requires approximately 1 or 1.5 weeks depending on the amount of pages. Additional time needs to be allocated for the revision of the documents.

Total period: 25 April - 31 July 2016

Result Of Service

A total of 7 Caribbean Disaster Risk Reduction country documents are uploaded online and approved by the respective country and UNISDR.

Qualifications/Special Skills

Academic Qualifications: Although this area of work is open to all graduates, a degree in the following subjects may increase your chances: publishing or publishing studies; media or electronic media. The applicant shall have at least 3 years work experience in one of the mentioned or a related field.

Experience:

  • A methodical working style;
  • Concentration, accuracy and great attention to detail;
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Self-motivation;
  • Capacity to work with Word press, experience with content management systems;
  • IT skills.

Language: Excellent English and Spanish speaking and writing skills.
