These developments are typical of a region where high exposure to disasters and deeply rooted and interrelated risk factors combine to create a near-permanent risk of disaster when a hazard occurs.

In alignment with its commitment to the Developing Resilient Cities 2030 (MCR2030) initiative, Panama City has played an integral role in validating the utility, benefits, and accessibility of these tools for local officials within the region.

This program aims to raise environmental awareness and enhance disaster preparedness and the ability to respond to emergency situations at all educational levels, driving the transition towards more sustainable and resilient models in the region.

The Declaration reaffirms the importance of disaster risk reduction for sustainable development and acknowledges the challenges posed by climate change and the need to build resilient societies.

Over the past decade, UNDRR has become a key partner of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) in the delivery and development of its programs.

The roadmap will be accompanied by the efforts of global and regional actors; further alignment and coordination was mentioned as a specific area of focus for CDEMA and CCCCC.

Barcarena and Porto Alegre in Brazil, and Quito in Ecuador, have become the latest Resilience Hubs of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) initiative.

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) would like to announce the appointment of that Mr. Nahuel Arenas Garcia as Chief of the Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean of UNDRR (UNDRR ROAC).

UNDRR have been working with Costa Rica on strengthening critical infrastructure by using the Principles for Resilience Infrastructure and Stress Test tool to analyze critical infrastructure from a systemic perspective.
