This annual report of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction's (UNISDR) Regional Office for the Americas highlights that the office seeks to promote increasingly wider synergies and partnerships among different stakeholders at all levels with the goal of building stronger linkages among disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change agendas, increasing investment in DRR and improving resilience at the local level among other things. The regional office in Panama has the mandate of providing technical support to a geographical area comprised of 35 sovereign States and 15 overseas territories of the Western Hemisphere comprised of North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. At the sub-regional level, UNISDR Americas works closely with the Intergovernmental Organizations (IGO) supporting different sub regions.

El informe del 2011 de la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres, Oficina Regional para las Américas (UNISDR-Las Américas), pone en relieve el objetivo de esta oficina de fortalecer los vínculos existentes y promover sinergias y alianzas cada vez más amplias y a todos los niveles, entre los diferentes agentes interesados en la reducción del riesgo de desastres (RRD) y la adaptación al cambio climático (ACC), con el fin de incrementar la inversión en RRD y fortalecer la resiliencia a nivel local. La Oficina Regional para las Américas, con sede en Panamá, tiene el mandato de prestar apoyo técnico a un área geográfica compuesta por 35 Estados soberanos y 15 territorios de ultramar del hemisferio occidental de América del Norte, América Central, América del Sur y el Caribe. A nivel sub-regional, la UNISDR Américas trabaja en estrecha colaboración con las organizaciones intergubernamentales (OIG) apoyando las diferentes subregiones.
