About the profiles
Each Country Risk and Resilience Profile traces the path from current and future hazard risk, through social and economic vulnerability, to the cascading impacts on national finances and supply chains — and ultimately to the specific investments that can close the resilience gap. The aim is to help governments and finance institutions make the critical jump from understanding risk to acting on it.
Developed under UNDRR's Global Risk and Resilience Metrics Facility, the profiles apply advanced probabilistic risk modelling (AAL and PML), data analytics and climate science to produce a consistent, comparable evidence base — calibrated to support budget planning, insurance design and long-term resilience investment across all three countries.
This work is part of UNDRR's broader effort to leverage new analytics and technology in support of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 and its global targets for reducing disaster losses.
Who and How to read these profiles
The Risk and Resilience Metrics use globally comparable datasets designed to provide consistent estimates across countries, enabling comparison of probable disaster impacts and resilience benefits. When available, the profiles also provide links to national or regional assessments that may offer more detailed or locally validated information, but may use different methods, dates or assumptions. Where such evidence is included, the profiles identify the source, reference date, geographic scale and validation status to help users interpret the results correctly.
Profiles translate technical risk information into accessible evidence for policy dialogue, country engagement and strategic prioritisation. They are intended to help users identify where disaster risk may create the greatest pressure on assets, households, public finances and resilience investment needs. The profiles can support advocacy and early-stage decision-making, but they are not intended to replace detailed engineering assessments, project appraisals, national risk assessments or complete investment plans.
