A regional workshop held in Cairo from 27–29 October 2026 brought together experts from across the Arab region to strengthen disaster data systems, advance risk-informed policymaking, and support anticipatory action.

A tsunami warning is a race against time. A wave triggered close to shore can arrive within minutes, and when a volcano or landslide is the source, systems designed around earthquakes may register the threat late or not at all.

The City of Niamey and UNDRR organized a capacity-building assessment on disaster risk reduction from 8 to 10 August 2026, as part of MCR2030.

At Cairo Water Week 2026, UNDRR promoted risk-informed water management, early warning systems, and climate resilience through regional cooperation.

The symposium provided a platform for continued exchange on approaches to NELs in the Pacific and identified areas for follow-up related to evidence, policy, capacity, coordination, finance and technical assistance.

UNDRR, UNESCO and IFRC brought experts together in Geneva to explore how to overcome barriers to effective risk communication and turn disaster warnings into informed, life-saving action.
