Description

This webinar will introduce the newly launched eLearning course for the UN DESA/DPIDG/UNPOG and UNDRR Toolkit on “Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience” (Toolkit) of the UN DESA Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs.

The eLearning Course seeks to build capacities to spearhead innovation and utilize information and communications technologies (ICTs) and key frontier technologies to drive disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience. Special emphasis is given to public service innovations that serve the needs of countries in special situations, including methods for adapting, scaling, and aligning these innovations with the countries’ national contexts.

The eLearning Course can be accessed here.

About Organizers

UNDRR Global Education and Training Institute (UNDRR GETI) was established in 2010 to develop a new cadre of professionals in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation to build disaster resilient societies. GETI has a global mandate to provide capacity building support to mainstream disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into sustainable development; convene and support inter-city learning to strengthen resilience (Making Cities Resilient); and to provide capacity building and best practice sharing support to national training institutions working on resilience issues. Based in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, UNDRR GETI is also the global secretariat of the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030).

UN DESA/DPIDG/UNPOG The United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) is part of the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of
Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). Its principal mission is to strengthen the public governance capacities of developing Member States in Asia and the Pacific and beyond to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
UNPOG was established in June 2006 to promote efficient, participatory and transparent governance as an outcome of the 6th Global Forum on Reinventing Government. In response to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the mandate of UNPOG has been extended to the end of 2030.
