Early warning and early action in Solomon Islands
This publication explores how Solomon Islands is enhancing early warning and early action systems to better protect communities across its many islands. Exposed to frequent flooding, earthquakes, and tsunamis, the country is pioneering impact-based forecasting and integrating traditional knowledge with modern science. Under the global Early Warnings for All initiative and Weather Ready Pacific, Solomon Islands is developing a national roadmap to strengthen risk data, forecasting, communication, and preparedness. The publication highlights innovative, community-driven solutions that ensure early warnings reach the most vulnerable, including persons with disabilities and those in remote areas—building a more inclusive and resilient early warning system for all.
