Overview
The Capacity-Building Workshop on Financing Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) aims to enhance the understanding and application of financial strategies that support the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015–2030).
This two-day workshop, jointly organized by UNDRR ROAS and the Government of Egypt, brings together government representatives, finance and planning officials, and technical experts from across the Arab region to strengthen national capacities in risk-informed budgeting, DRR investment tracking, and financial resilience planning.
The workshop provides a hands-on approach to developing DRR financing strategies, aligning with the Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs), climate finance mechanisms, and Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative.
Objectives
- Strengthen participants’ understanding of the economic and financial impacts of disasters.
- Enhance capacities to analyze national financial landscapes and identify existing DRR financing gaps.
- Introduce practical tools for budget tagging, tracking, and prioritizing DRR investments.
- Provide guidance on developing national DRR financing strategies aligned with climate and sustainable development goals.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange through country case studies, peer discussions, and interactive exercises.
