International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum Incheon 2024 - Final Report
The International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum Incheon 2024 (IDRLF 2024) was organized by Incheon Metropolitan City, the Incheon Institute, and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR ONEA & GETI) on 28–29 October 2024 in Incheon, Republic of Korea, with support from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and in cooperation with the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS). Held under the theme ‘All-of-Society Capacity Development and Education for Urban Disaster Risk Reduction,’ the forum addressed gaps identified in the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030. It provided a platform for leaders to share practical experiences and strategies to strengthen disaster resilience across sectors and levels of society.
The forum brought together 385 participants, including 51 leaders and representatives from 15 countries and cities, along with experts from academia, international organizations, and the private sector. Over four thematic sessions and two city networking events, participants exchanged practices for strengthening disaster risk reduction capacities. Discussions highlighted the importance of education, policy frameworks, and technological innovation in building resilience at national and local levels. This report summarizes the forum’s key discussions and outcomes.
