UNDRR Regional Office for Africa 2024 Highlights

This infographic summarizes the achievements of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Regional Office for Africa in 2024. The Regional Office for Africa has many accomplishments from this past year to be proud of, including supporting the African Union Commission with the establishment a situation room in Tanzania, the first ever forum held for the Africa Network of Centres of Excellence (NoE) for Disaster Risk Reduction, the launch of the ARISE Africa Network, and publishing our Disaster Risk Profile on Niger. The year 2024 also marked the 9th Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, an event that brought together over 750 participants to review progress and share experiences in regards to implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Africa. The Regional Platform encouraged dialogue between Member States, Regional Economic Communities, civil society organizations, development partners and other disaster risk reduction stakeholders, and culminated in the adoption of the Windhoek Declaration.
