The Women International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR) Award, the Risk Award, and the Sasakawa Award recognize excellence, innovation and leadership in disaster risk reduction.

About the awards

WIN DRR Leadership Awards

The Women International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR) Leadership Awards recognize women's achievements in DRR across the Asia-Pacific region. The awards are part of UNDRR's flagship women's leadership initiative the Women's International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR), supported by the Government of Australia.

There are two award categories, the Excellence Award, proudly sponsored by SM Prime, and the Rising Star Award. The WIN DRR Excellence Award is proudly supported by SM Prime Holdings Inc. and US$10,000 will be awarded to an individual woman who has achieved exceptional professional success in DRR.

Sasakawa Award

The United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction is awarded to an individual or institution that has made active efforts to reduce disaster risk in their community and advocates for disaster risk reduction.

The United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction, together with the World Health Organization Sasakawa Health Prize and the UN Environment Programme Sasakawa Environment Prize, is one of the three prestigious prizes established in 1986 by the founding Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, Mr. Ryoichi Sasakawa.

The RISK Award

The RISK Award has been set up to help improve risk reduction and disaster management by providing financial support to projects dedicated to the topic. Launched in 2012, it awards up to €100,000 every two years to fund groundbreaking projects.

The award is jointly organised by Munich Re Foundation and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
