Rescue workers search a collapsed building in a suburb of Caracas following the earthquake in Venezuela.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and the devastation caused by the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of those who have lost loved ones, and I stand in solidarity with all those affected.
At this critical time, I join the United Nations Secretary-General in welcoming offers of solidarity and support from Member States. We must help Venezuela recover from this disaster and Build Back Better.
As earthquakes are among the deadliest natural hazards we face, it is essential that we build resilience before disaster strikes.
