About

The Roundtable on Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience in an Era of Complex and Interconnected Risks, hosted by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in partnership with the Corporate Chief Resilience Officers (CCRO) Network and Group Resilience, aims to address the growing exposure of global supply chains to systemic and compounding risks.

Global supply chains are increasingly shaped by overlapping disruptions, including climate-related hazards, geopolitical tensions, and infrastructure constraints. These risks are no longer isolated but interact across sectors and geographies, exposing vulnerabilities that extend beyond individual firms to affect economic stability, local livelihoods, and societal resilience.

Despite advances in supply chain management and digitalisation, significant gaps remain in integrating risk reduction and resilience into decision-making processes. Limited visibility beyond Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, insufficient incorporation of disaster and systemic risks, and misaligned incentives continue to constrain effective action.

This roundtable seeks to bring together private sector leaders, financial institutions, policymakers, and technical experts to explore how risk-informed approaches can be more systematically embedded into supply chain governance, investment decisions, and operational practices.

By fostering dialogue across sectors, the roundtable aims to identify practical entry points for strengthening resilience, improving coordination, and supporting more transparent and robust supply chain systems. It will also explore how supply chain resilience can contribute to broader economic and societal stability, including reducing the risk of disruption-driven shocks in vulnerable regions.

Objectives

This roundtable represents an initial step towards strengthening collective understanding and advancing practical approaches to supply chain resilience. It aims to:

  • Exchange perspectives on evolving supply chain risks and systemic vulnerabilities across sectors and regions
  • Identify key gaps in current approaches, particularly in relation to multi-tier visibility, interdependencies, and risk integration into decision-making
  • Explore how organizations are translating risk insights into operational and investment decisions, including the challenges and trade-offs involved
  • Facilitate dialogue on opportunities for collaboration, including the role of finance, policy frameworks, and cross-sector partnerships
  • Contribute to the identification of practical pathways for advancing risk-informed, resilient, and transparent global supply chains
