This report describes major activities and events related to the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) in the Americas, and discusses experiences, achievements and challenges in disaster risk reduction (DRR) of all the countries in the region.
The report provides summaries of the assessment of achievements during IDNDR, highlighting countries’ disaster risks and natural hazards, such as cyclone, flood, landslide, wild fire, earthquake, volcano and drought, also mitigation measures adopted, preparedness and prevention activities, institutional and legal framework for DRR, and implemented projects and international cooperation in disaster risk management.
