Barcarena completed three addenda to the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities, with technical support from UNDRR, including the addendum for public health, the inclusion of people with disabilities and the resilience of food systems.

The next step involves integrating these indicators and actions into the update of Cali's disaster risk management plan.

Understanding risk is not a mere intellectual exercise; it's a lifeline for the vulnerable populations suffering the brunt of natural hazards, economic instability, and societal issues.

Chile organized a kick off meeting with infrastructure stakeholders to commence the project for strengthening resilience of infrastructure through governance, supported by UNDRR and CDRI.

The primary purpose of this meeting, primarily supported by the government of Finland, was to develop a resilience plan with a central focus on the inclusion of people with disabilities within the framework of disaster risk reduction.

These developments are typical of a region where high exposure to disasters and deeply rooted and interrelated risk factors combine to create a near-permanent risk of disaster when a hazard occurs.

MCR2030 Labs promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences on disaster resilience among cities in the Americas and the Caribbean. In this edition, we discuss the inclusion of disability in disaster risk reduction (DRR).

Currently, only five Brazilian cities have been nominated as MCR2030 Resilience Hubs: Porto Alegre, Recife, Campinas, Salvador and Barcarena.

The workshop also included the participation of María Elena Opazo Cortes, Director of Risk Management of the Municipality of Pudahuel (Chile), who shared her government's experience and lessons learned in the use of UNDRR tools.

In alignment with its commitment to the Developing Resilient Cities 2030 (MCR2030) initiative, Panama City has played an integral role in validating the utility, benefits, and accessibility of these tools for local officials within the region.
