Central America and the Dominican Republic face high disaster vulnerability. Investing in resilience is key: protect new infrastructure, strengthen existing assets, and plan for resilient recovery. The challenge: finance resilience, not disasters.

Latin America and the Caribbean boost multi-hazard early warning systems as a pillar of climate adaptation, stressing regional cooperation, sustainable finance, and anticipatory action to save lives, protect economies, and build resilience.

The award, granted at the rank of Commander, underscores how UNDRR’s initiatives, carried out in close partnership with municipal and state institutions, are helping to integrate disaster risk reduction into public policies and services in Pará.

This series is promoted by UNDRR, in partnership with the Ministry of Cities and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to leverage DRR knowledge concerning climate resilience and adaptation for local governments leading up to and during COP30.

This effort is part of the broader Belize Inclusive Resilience in Safe and SMART Spaces Joint Programme. It aligns with global frameworks including the Sendai Framework, the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement, and the New Urban Agenda.

Tech4DRR will be launched on July 23 during a public virtual event and includes the presentation of all five chapters of the report and a high-level panel featuring representatives from international agencies, the private sector, and development partners.

The workshop forms part of Guyana’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive, people-centred Early Warning System (EWS), aligned with international good practices.

With over 1,500 members and four elected representatives, the LAC Women's Network brings the voices and stories of women from an expansive region where disasters intersect with deep-rooted inequalities.

RP27 is expected to be more than just a forum—it will serve as a pivotal moment to reaffirm our collective commitment and inspire renewed collaboration across sectors and societies.

This event is the result of the work driven by the Network since the Regional Youth Declaration, presented in 2023 during the RP23, and reflects the joint effort of more than 600 members from across the region.
