Extraterrestrial

A space accident is any accident involving space objects that cause damage (adapted from UNGA, 1971). 

A near-Earth object (NEO) is an asteroid or comet whose trajectory brings it to within 1.3 astronomical units of the Sun and hence within 0.3 astronomical units, or approximately 45 million kilometres, of the Earth’s orbit (UN OOSA, no date). 

An airburst is defined as a high-energy explosion in mid-air caused either by an artificial explosive device or by the sudden disruption of a natural object entering the Earth's atmosphere at high speeds at an altitude where the hydrodynamic pressure exceeds the structural integrity of the object (adapted from ESA, No date).

An airburst is defined as an explosion in the air, especially of a nuclear bomb or large meteorite (Lexico Dictionary, no date).

Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure, either from the sun or from artificial sources such as sunbeds, is primarily responsible for skin cancers. Globally in 2020, over 1.5 million cases of skin cancers were diagnosed and over 120, 000 skin cancer-associated deaths were reported. (WHO 2022a).
