HNPW 2026: DELTA Resilience: Enabling the use of disaster impact data for risk-informed, inclusive & climate-resilient humanitarian action
- English
Time
14:00 - 15:30 CET
Background
As climate-related hazards intensify, humanitarian needs continue to grow - disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable. Making humanitarian action truly risk-informed, anticipatory and inclusive requires stronger and more systematic use of disaster impact data.
At Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW) 2026, UNDRR, together with partners, will showcase how DELTA Resilience - jointly supported by UNDP and WMO - strengthens national disaster data ecosystems and enables the use of losses, damages and human impact data to support humanitarian decision-making.
Session objectives
The session will highlight how disaster impact data can be used to:
- Inform anticipatory action through impact-based triggers
- Strengthen impact-based forecasting and risk models
- Identify high-risk and marginalised population groups
- Identify and assess effectiveness of early actions
Drawing on practical country use cases and collaboration with the Netherlands and German Red Cross and the Climate Centre, the discussion will demonstrate how historical impact data can directly inform preparedness, early warning, anticipatory action and inclusive recovery planning.
Who should join?
Humanitarian and development practitioners, DRM and civil protection authorities, climate and technical agencies, anticipatory action partners, donors and organisations working on climate resilience and disaster risk reduction.
