UNDRR organized a training on Readiness for Resilient Recovery, with a focus on Infrastructure and Housing, with more than 20 country representatives aimed at sharpening their abilities to recover faster, better and more resilient after disasters.

Eighteen small and medium-sized enterprises from across Sendai City took part in a half-day resilience workshop on 23 October 2025, marking a new push to strengthen business continuity ahead of future disasters.

For three years, the Maria Naura Gouvêa Municipal School has been living out one of COP30’s central themes: adaptation. During our visit, Kamal Kishore, head of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), called the school “a guiding light".

UNDRR commemorated World Tsunami Awareness Day at UN Headquarters in New York, bringing together Member States, UN leaders, scientists, local officials and youth representatives.
