Workshop to advance the National Implementation Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation 2026–2030 in Yemen

The Government of Yemen is organizing a consultative workshop in collaboration with the Regional Office of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to complete the national roadmap for the national strategy and national coordination mechanism by preparing the National Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (2026–2030).
The workshop builds on the consultative workshop held on 2-3 December, convened by the ministry to align the draft implementation plan with the Sendai Framework, the national strategy, and the national coordination mechanism.
Workshop objectives
The workshop aims to conduct a final technical assessment and review of the draft National Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation 2026-2030, leading to a revised and final version to be submitted to decision-makers. Through the following sub-objectives:
- Complete technical consultations on the final draft of the strategy, its programmes and themes.
- Receive final technical recommendations from national authorities, funders and partners. Agree on the final version in preparation for submission to decision-makers for formal approval. Strengthen national consensus on priorities, implementation pathways, funding requirements, and follow-up and monitoring mechanisms.

Expected outcomes
- Technical approval of the final draft of the National Strategy 2026-2030.
- Formulation of a final set of recommendations to complete the amended version in accordance with the observations.
- Confirmation of a comprehensive national consensus on objectives, programmes and implementation mechanisms.
- Identification of post-workshop steps to finalise the output and submit the document for government approval.
Target Audience
Approximately 60 participants are taking part in the workshop, representing:
- Relevant ministries, agencies and specialised government bodies.
- Local authorities in the governorates.
- International and UN organisations, foremost among them
- development partners and donors.
- Civil society organisations.
