Bonn Technical Forum 2025 - Scene Setting Webinar: Data ecosystem maturity assessment: towards institutionalizing Disaster Tracking Systems
- English
Time
11:00 - 12:30 CEST
About
In the lead-up to the Bonn Technical Forum 2025, “Data as the Lever for Climate Action”, this preparatory webinar is meant to set the stage for expert discussions and partner engagement during the data segment of the Bonn Technical Forum, which is this year dedicated to accelerating tracking of hazardous events and disaster losses and damages.
The first webinar focuses on the Data Ecosystem Maturity Assessment (DEMA) Framework, a tool designed to assess national readiness for producing and using disaster-related data. The DEMA Framework helps countries identify gaps, prioritize actions towards strengthening tracking systems that go beyond a repository of losses and damages, become decision-support tools enabling translating data on disaster impacts into insights for disaster risk reduction overall, early warning and early action, and ultimately risk-informed development.
Webinar objectives
- To socialize the Data Ecosystem Maturity Assessment Framework (DEMA) Framework developed and discuss how it supports country readiness for institutionalizing tracking systems powered by DELTA Resilience
- To gather feedback from participants on the DEMA toolkit, building on other maturity assessment approaches and country experiences.
- To identify opportunities to strengthen guidance and support for strengthening hazardous events and disaster data governance and data value chain for priority use cases, with a focus on Early warning and early action.
Expected outcomes
Enhanced understanding of the DEMA Framework as a foundation for readiness for institutionalizing disaster tracking systems.
Consolidated feedback to refine DEMA toolkit ahead of the Forum.
Strengthened partnerships and engagement with countries and organizations contributing to the DELTA rollout and disaster data ecosystem strengthening.
