Sudan National Platform

The National Council for Civil Defense has been the focal point for disaster risk management in Sudan since its establishment in 1994. Its membership includes all sovereign ministries, states, and other relevant entities. The Council is chaired by the Minister of the Interior and has a General Secretariat headed by the Director of the Civil Defense Forces.

The Council actively manages all potential risks in the country through specialized committees and leads all risk-related activities both domestically and internationally. Examples include leading the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and its strategic initiatives in Sudan, in accordance with the guidelines of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
