This Regional Action Plan works towards a concerted regional approach to supporting countries in their efforts to build whole-of-society resilience, reduce disaster risk and impacts, and contribute to the well-being of our societies.

Under the theme of 'Building Resilient Economies in the Americas and the Caribbean', the ministers and heads of delegation gathered at the fourth high-level meeting of ministers and authorities put forward this declaration.

Participants to the pledge commit to making disaster prevention and resilience a priority and accelerating the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 according to the EFDRR Roadmap 2021-2030.

The EFDRR Roadmap 2021-2030 identifies four shared priority areas to achieve the priorities of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, including 16 common action areas for development and investment and five enabling approaches.

This is the Nairobi Declaration on accelerating the path to achieving the goals and targets of the Programme of Action for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa. 

The Programme of Action (PoA) for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa posits a great opportunity to contribute to building resilient African communities.

This Resolution urges the Council of Europe, mayors and local authorities to address urban resilience by embracing the “Ten Essentials” of the Making Cities Resilient campaign.

The aim of the Strategy is to contribute to the attainment of sustainable development and poverty eradication by facilitating the integration of disaster risk reduction into development.
