In March 2026, São Tomé and Príncipe endorsed its EW4All roadmap to establish inclusive early warning systems. The roadmap benefited from the high-level political support and government ownership, paving the way to effectiveness and sustainability.

UN endorses Global Framework to strengthen disaster-related statistics

The 57th UN Statistical Commission endorsed the Global Disaster-Related Statistics Framework (G-DRSF), the first comprehensive global framework to strengthen how disaster statistics are defined, compiled, and used in national systems

Strengthening disaster data systems in the Indian Ocean

Seychelles hosted a regional peer learning workshop from 18 to 20 January 2026 on building methodological foundations for national disaster tracking systems powered by DELTA-Resilience. Participants from Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar attended.

A project in Timor-Leste supported national authorities to strengthen disaster loss data systems, assess how early warnings reach communities, and improve institutional coordination, helping build more effective early warning and disaster risk management.
