The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) would like to announce the appointment of that Mr. Nahuel Arenas Garcia as Chief of the Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean of UNDRR (UNDRR ROAC).

Without resilience, all the world’s development gains could be lost. Resilience can be built by investing in disaster risk reduction, which sits at the nexus between development, humanitarian and climate action.

The workshop will review the policy landscape and risk status in the island countries in the region, and develop a roadmap to define and pursue integrated approaches in the region.

As Caribbean countries brace for the ongoing Hurricane Season, key institutions in Trinidad and Tobago’s disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience have begun the process of implementing the UNDRR’s Principles for Resilient Infrastructure.

The MCR2030 Labs promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences on disaster resilience among cities in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The UNDRR tool assesses how resilient a city’s food systems are, considering that they are essential to face emergencies and ensure the continuous availability of safe and healthy food.

The 11 municipalities committed to finalise the completion of each tool by the end of July, so as to finalise their risk and resilience capacity assessments and then start the formulation of their local risk reduction and resilience plan.
