On 5 October the UNECE Housing and Land Management Unit organized a one-day event focusing on SDG 11. This year’s theme “Supporting city actions for a resilient future” corresponded to the theme of the 2020 Forum of Mayors “City action for a resilient future: Strengthening local government preparedness and response to emergencies and the impact of climate change.” UNDRR was invited to talk about its efforts promoting and building local level resilience in the face of COVID-19, through the Making Cities Resilient Campaign and its timely addendum developed with WHO: ‘Public Health System Resilience Scorecard’.

On 6 October 2020, mayors from across the UNECE regions shared concrete actions and innovative solutions on medium-and long-term resilience strategies, including local responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, and natural hazards. On this occasion UNDRR supported the presence of the Chisinau’s mayor, who recently signed up for the Making Cities Resilient Campaign and will soon run the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities.
