National media organizations play an important role in promoting national disaster risk reduction policies and programmes. To do so, however, national media need to know what disaster risk reduction is about and have regular and established contacts with their national disaster risk reduction representatives who can provide them with accurate and timely information.

In order to so, UNISDR, together with the support of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, UNRIC and ECHO, is organising a second two-day media training in Brussels from 15 to 16 November 2010 with ten media organisations and national platform representatives from European countries.

The first media training happened in Incheon (Korea) during the Fourth Asian Ministerial Conference from 26-27 October. More than 12 journalists from the Jakarta Post and Tempo magazine, ( Indonesia), Vietnam television ( Vietnam), Daily Ittefalq ( Bangladesh) National news agency ( Nepal) Daily Inquirer (Philippines), The times of India( India),Phnom Penh Post Newspaper ( Cambodia) and IPS Asia-Pacific ( Singapore) participated in the media training.
