International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2025 – Niger
- French
On 13 October 2025, in Niamey, the official launch of Niger's national roadmap for the Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) initiative will take place, followed by a ceremony for the handover of equipment to the Situation Room of the Operational Center for Monitoring, Alert, and Crisis Management (COVACC).
This event marks a significant milestone in strengthening national and regional disaster risk reduction (DRR) capacities, and contributes to the broader establishment of the Africa Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems and Early Action (AMHEWAS) network.
Niger is highly exposed to climate and hydrometeorological risks. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Secretary-General's global EW4ALL goal to ensure universal coverage by 2027.
The event also reinforces Niger's commitment to risk-informed development, regional cooperation, and resilience-building, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the African Union's Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
