SB64 Side event - Coherent risk-informed climate action for adaptation and managing loss and damage
World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) - Room Bonn
Time
16:30-17:45h
[Participation for registered Participants of the UN June Climate Meetings SB64]
Description
Developing countries are increasingly exposed to escalating climate impacts and risks from both extreme and slow-onset events, including ocean-related hazards. This event will examine how coherent, risk-informed approaches can strengthen adaptation and resilience while addressing loss and damage. It will highlight the role of integrated risk management grounded in robust data, science and observations, early warning systems, human rights principles, and aligned policy frameworks. The discussion will identify key enablers for coherent action, drawing on successful experiences and practical tools that support countries in closing persistent gaps. Particular emphasis will be placed on improving data integration, enhancing policy coherence, and strengthening capacity-building mechanisms to support implementation. By fostering coordination across sectors and scales, the event aims to accelerate effective, inclusive, and sustained responses to climate impacts, while minimizing fragmentation and maximizing synergies in support of vulnerable countries.
