Webinar aims to increase the understanding of existing tools, technologies and effective practices for DRR among countries prone to earthquakes; share the experience of Northeast Asia countries; and promote collaboration for capacity development

The panel discussion will focus on key themes such as data collection and management, data sharing and accessibility, policy frameworks and strategies, and capacity development.

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of engaging the private sector in DRR. This is reflected in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030

The webinar, led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), will deliberate upon the challenging notion: ‘Can disasters be avoided?’

This event constitutes an opportunity to showcase the impacts of Disaster Preparedness actions in the region, especially in the context of complex emergencies requiring a better understanding of systemic risks with a critical analysis.

The workshop seeks to enhance the capacities of Caribbean countries in developing and implementing integrated plans, and to support regional efforts in streamlining climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) measures.

An open online event co-hosted by Munich Re Foundation and UNDRR that will further contribute to raising awareness on the importance of prevention as a part of risk management strategies with the focus on this year’s theme, Early Warning.
