To commemorate World Tsunami Awareness Day 2025, this event in Bangkok will feature a film screening and high-level dialogue on the theme “Be Tsunami Ready: Investing Today for a Safer Tomorrow.”

Side Event Second World Summit for Social Development

This event honours the victims of the great 1755 disaster and highlights the importance of preparedness and resilience among coastal communities in building a safer and more resilient future in the face of natural hazards.

It will explore innovative financing solutions – from parametric insurance to trigger-based schemes – aimed at strengthening urban resilience, supporting vulnerable groups, and improving quality of life in cities.

This workshop aims to build capacities on tracking losses, identify technical assistance needs, raise awareness on enhanced tools, standards and frameworks and advance planning for countries to establish country institutionalized Disaster Tracking System

These events will employ locally relevant case studies as a mechanism for exploring and applying the resources and material and to highlight the flexibility, utility and user-oriented design of the guide.
